We had an AMAZING first week of school. Everyone had a chance to get acquainted with "the Hive" and Ms. Smith's society greeting--"Good morning you Princes of Thought, you Queens of Imagination." At first it was kinda funny, but now we like it because we know she's just reminding us how scholarly we are.
Lit groups were a hit (Lit groups are book clubs where scholars choose their own books and then meet to share all of their wonderful thoughts), and everyone is excited about our first formal meeting on Monday. Ms. Smith keeps on reminding us that Hunger Games will be offered all year long, so not to be sad if we didn't get it this first time. On Friday we created our digital 6-word memoirs by using photos from Flickr and then joining the photo and the memoir on the website Phixr.com. We're creating a Prezi (sooooo cool) and then presenting it to the entire school at Friday Assembly. Cheers to another great week! *Here's the Prezi on the history and examples of 6-word memoirs: Prezi You're probably wondering what the Hive Society is. Well...many of you know how crazy I am about my classroom, so you shouldn't be surprised that I've decided to create something out-of-the-ordinary. The Hive Society is going to be a hub for learning this year--it's going to be our space to explore and talk and learn and grow. It's going to be all YOURS. Take a look at our new site and let me know what you think. What do you think we should add? What do you think we should change? How can we make this site meet our needs this year?
Here's the Meet the Teacher Prezi (just in case you couldn't make it): Prezi On another note: Here's what the Mitchasaurus has been up to... |
