Hope is the thing with feathers...

Yesterday, the Hive Society spent time studying a classic poem by Emily Dickinson:
                    Hope is the thing with Feathers
                              Emily Dickinson
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

The Hive didn't stop there, though!  Seeing as we're a Social Emotional Learning community, we had the opportunity to contribute to our Courtyard of Compassion.  Ms. Raley (one of our fabulous Kinder teachers) came and helped us create "Hope Stepping Stones" for our outdoor learning space.  On top of that, she talked to us about our status as a No Place For Hate campus and we all signed a contract to help keep hope amongst all Cunningham scholars. What a beautiful day for poetry and peace!
