Many kids today feel that advertisements, toys, movies, and clothing are stereotyping what it means to be a certain gender. Today, scholars in the Hive will begin a week-long exploration through a variety of artifacts to help us gain a stronger understanding of this topic. First up...this poem written by a teenager who struggles with what it means to be a boy in today's world followed by a discussion of examples and non-examples of gender stereotypes: Real Boys Don't Cry

This was pretty fun actually and it's not true "real boys" can still cry.

As we close out the school year, I just want to say thank you so much for posting this blog. Ms. Smith and all the 5th Graders are monumentally inspiring, not just to Cunningham families, but to our community-at-large, and I might add, the world. You inspire me every day - I'm continually amazed by all of you, and very proud to be a Cobra mom - looking forward to Fifth Grade and The Hive in a few years.
